- ABS-CBN conducted an informal poll that suggests they will be having a remake of LOTR
- Netizens disagreed and begged the network not to ruin the movie
- Philippine technology is still not capable of matching Hollywood’s special effects
Last Lenten Season, ABS-CBN featured the epic and multi-award-winning movie trilogy ‘The Lord of the Rings.’ Revisiting the film probably gave the producers of ABS-CBN an out-of-the-line idea in making a hypothetical questions for the fans.
The Kapamilya Network conducted an informal poll asking netizens on who among the ABS-CBN actors and actresses they want to play the main characters of the Lord of the Rings.
However, instead of netizens voting for the poll, they ended up pleading ABS-CBN to stop this ridiculous idea.
Netizens shared their opinions on this and asked the network to ‘not ruin the movie’ and ‘respect the vision of the author.’
The people are not saying that ABS-CBN is not worth it to make a remake of LOTR. But, we must admit but the technology Philippine producers currently possess is probably 10 years or more behind Hollywood.
ABS-CBN’s ‘Bagani’ only proves that Philippine TV is not yet ready for special effects such as making dragons and fighting scenes look realistic.
Other than that, we can’t expect ABS-CBN to spend extravagantly to match the budget poured into the original movie. They’ll probably spend only a dime of the actual budget which will ultimately lead to ruin.
Tolkien’s estate is estimated to cost around $250 million. The movie’s remake will need at least a $1 million initial budget, and that’s only for the franchise. That amount converted to Philippine peso is approximately 52 million.
However, despite having a poll, ABS-CBN did not formally announce that the said remake will be happening. The informal poll may just be acting as another survey if the people open to the idea.
