- Sanya Lopez’ heart breaks over role of an abused woman in ‘Pilat’
- Tanikala presents ‘Pilat’ on Good Friday, March 30, 5:30 p.m. at GMA.
Sanya Lopez, one of GMA Network’s fresh faces, will portray the role of an abused woman, Teresa, in Tanikala presents Pilat on Good Friday, March 30, 5:30 p.m. at GMA.
As she shares her experience in portraying her newest role, Sanya cannot help but cry. “I am very soft-hearted with these kinds of situations especially when a woman is being abused,” she shared.
Pilat is a true-to-life story of Teresa Pastera, a survivor of physical and sexual abuse. Abandoned by her parents at a very young age, she experienced maltreatment from her step family. Her scarred past made her rebellious and abusive as well.
“When I first read the script, I couldn’t help but cry. It is my first time to be affected by a role I portray,” Sanya recounted.
Sanya, who became famous because of her portrayal of Hara Danaya in GMA’s Encantandia remake, found Teresa’s story remarkable above the roles she has done before.
“Most of the roles I portrayed are strong-willed personalities. Danaya has a fearless temperament. You could hardly see her cry, but Teresa is different. It’s my first time to portray a character whose life has gone through severe cruelty,“ Sanya shared.
On the other hand, the actress admired Teresa for her courage to leave her painful past behind and move forward.
“Even with all the pain Teresa received, she learned to rise up from her trials and trust God. One of my takeaways from her beautiful story is to be really strong and courageous,“ Sanya said.
Tanikala presents Pilat is CBN Asia’s Holy Week Special directed and written by Honeylet Adajar-Velves and co-directed by Paula Mae Villanueva. Catch it on March 30, Good Friday, 5:30 p.m. at GMA.
