Kapamilya actress recently made the whole Philippines proud on her performance on “Singer 2018.” The 25-year old singer sang a Mandarin song titled “The Pain Which You Don’t Know” which moved some of the audience into tears.
However, not all was please with her performance and gave negative comments about her choice of song.
“If you make it about the Philippines more than the music then you wont win. you beat jessie j because of your musicality,” a netizen wrote.
KZ told to the netizen that she will always showcase her love for her country and her music. “My musicality is the product of how i was raised in the Philippines. In this competition, it always be about the Philippines and my music,” she replied.
The netizen then continued to comment on KZ’s tweet by saying that the Kapamilya singer sang the Mandarin version of the Pinoy classical song, “Anak.”
“Because I heard kz sang a filipino song anak and got 6th place. if thats true then you can see that people didnt relate. I get that you should be proud but at the end of the day people want to be entertained by your own musicality like you did to adele song,” netizen told KZ.
KZ replied, “The problem is people react to hearsay. I didnt sing Anak, and if you did a little bit of research you’d know. && even if I actually did sing Anak, they’d appreciate it because the Mandarin and Cantonese version of Anak is famous in China.”
On the latter part of their Twitter thread, the conversation heated as the netizen reiterates that music is all about entertainment, “sorry to break it to you. music is entertainment. especially in a music contest where judges are present.”
KZ corrected the netizen that there are no judges on the show, she emphasized that music is a language that connects people despite language barriers.
“Sorry to break to you too but there are no judges in the show 🙂 music isnt also just about entertainment, it is an expression, a language, a connection, an art,” she firmly stands.
The “ASAP” performer ended the conversation by telling the netizen to research before commenting on her performance on the said singing competition.
Meanwhile, KZ is now a regular contender on China’s No. 1 television show.
Congrats KZ! We are all proud of you!
