TV host-comedian Arnel Ignacio or Arnaldo Ignacio in real life has taken a new role in the Duterte administration.
President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Ignacio to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration as Deputy Executive Director V at the OWWA. OWWA is an agency attached to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Prior to Ignacio’s new role in OWWA, he was previously appointed Assistant Vice President for Community Relations and Services Department of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation in July of 2016.
Arnel is one of the many celebrities who campaigned hard for Duterte. He was always seen sharing the stage with the then-candidate Duterte during the campaign season of 2016.
During his stint at PAGCOR, Ignacio has caught the netizens attention and ire when he fell for fake news several times.
According to Malacanang, Ignacio was moved to OWWA because it was his preference.
“He preferred it. He really wants to be of service to the OFWs,” said Presidential spokesman Harry Roque.
Ignacio’s appointment paper was signed by President Duterte last Jan 23, 2018.
