The 43rd edition of Metro Manila Film Festival is a huge success for reaching their goal of P1 billion mark box-office sales.
During the Thanksgiving Party of MMFF 2017 held at the Sampaguita Gardens, the top 4 highest grossing films were announced: “The Revenger Squad,” “Ang Panday,” “Siargao” and “Haunted Forest.”
Meanwhile, the Vic Sotto movie “Meant To Beh” failed to enter the top 4 list despite being one of the expected top earners even before the start of the festival.
In a report written on PEP.ph, the festival already breached P1.5 billion total of ticket sales. The other four movies reached more than P30 million each in the box-office. All the eight entries are still showing in cinemas nationwide and still earning.
“Normally, may nagsi-single digit [na box-office performance] yung lowest. Yung lowest na ito, matter of millions lang ang difference. More than P30 million ang nakuha nung nasa bottom four. Si Wilson Tieng [of Solar], they hold the record na pinakamababa. Nag-P2 million ang gross ng Thy Womb nung sila nag-release. Yun ang pinakamababa na gross ng buong MMFF,” MMFF Spokesperson Noel Ferrer said.
According to Bing Advincula, vice-chairman of the MMFF selection committee, “The Revenger Squad” starring Vice Ganda, Daniel Padilla, and Pia Wurtzbach earned more than P500 million already.
“Sixty percent of the total box-office gross came from The Revenger Squad and Ang Panday,” Advincula said.
Congratulations to the top 4 highest grossing films of this year’s festival!
Congratulations MMFF 2017!
