- Mark Anthony Fernandez is the son of Alma Moreno and Rudy Fernandez.
- He was arrested last October of 2016 for alleged drug involvement.
- The actor was released on December 22, 2017.
Former actor Mark Anthony Fernandez allegedly impregnated two lady officers in jail. At least according to a satire site anyway.
Unfortunately, many Filipinos have fell once again to this made-up news.
According to satirical blogs PH News Pride, the 37-year-old heartthrob, who has been a constant subject of gay rumors for the past years, admitted that he had been in a relationship with both women and men.
The fake report stated that the US State Department had announced a ‘no-visa’ policy for Filipinos.
A Facebook Page dedicated to the police life in the Philippines has already denied the issue. “Fake news po ito 👇 Kung sino ka man admin ang nagsulat ng article na yan siguraduhin nyo muna kung tama at totoo yung sinusulat nyo! Sinisira nyo reputasyon ng dalawang pulis. Wala kayong respeto sa babae😠2018 na magbago na kayo!
The page also warned those spreading the malicious rumors. “Sa ginawa nyong yan pwede kayong makasuhan ng libel😠”
Fernandez’s two drugs cases were dismissed on grounds of breaches in handling the evidence
Judge Ireneo Pangilinan Jr. of the Angeles City Regional Trial Court Branch 58 said that the actor was released due to procedural breaches committed by Angeles cops in handling the evidence against Fernandez.
Fernandez was arrested by the police for possession of 1 kilo marijuana at a checkpoint in Barangay Virgen delos Remedios in Angeles City, Pampanga in October 2016. The dried leaves were estimated to cost P15,000 in street prices. He was deemed in violation of the Republic Act of 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Acts of 2002.
The actor denied owning the dried marijuana leaves found in his car, claiming that it was planted by the police. He was, however, tested positive for marijuana use. Fernandez admitted that he had been smoking marijuana since he was diagnosed with cancer in 2008.
Fernandez was separately charged for resisting arrest filed before the Pampanga Municipal Trial Court.
The former actor had struggled with illegal drugs and underwent rehabilitation in the past.
Regarded as one of the most notorious satirical news sites in the Philippines, PH News Pride is known for releasing trending hoax reports involving famous personalities in the country. Unfortunately, many other blogs rewrote the story as if it’s true. Sigh!
Even before this humorous report came out, there have been countless times when Filipino netizens fell for satirical pieces on local fake news and satire websites. Add the Filipinos’ tendency to quickly share and retweet on Facebook and Twitter to the equation, and things really get scary.
