Chic-Boy, a fast casual restaurant that took the Chicken and Liempo style of grilling by the Cebuanos, and served it up alongside the ever popular Inasal from Bacolod. This fast-food-chain is now facing issues since the Chic-Boy “caterpilar on my veggies” viral photos uploaded by Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo spreads on Social Networking Sites.
In the complaint that she posted online, Bernardo took a humorous tone. She tagged her open letter as “A Break-Up Letter from an Upset Customer.” In it, she detailed her experience. As it turns out, she was reportedly given the run-around by the restaurant staff. Later, she was even made to speak to two policemen. Despite all the supposed fuss, Bernardo said she still didn’t get a sufficient explanation for the presence of the caterpillar in her food. Perhaps, out of sheer frustration, Bernardo felt she had no other choice but to go public with her complaint. Needless to say, the photos of the large catepillar on a plate that also had Ginisang Kangkong on it disturbed a lot of people.
Chic-Boy is not backing down on Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo’s allegation of caterpillars on her sauteed kangkong, and has intent to file charges against her. GMA News Online reported that Chic-Boy has contacted them, and will file a case of libel against Bernardo for her statements :
“To all our Patrons, Franchisees and employees, thank you for your comment of support and advises to file a libel case against the writer. We will definitely file a Libel case. We just had to finish our complaint affidavit for filing with the fiscal office. We will definitely not take this sitting down.”
GMA News Online also noted that Chic-Boy management has claimed that Bernardo‘s complaint is a “demolition job” being backed by a “desperate competitor.” On their Facebook account, Chic-Boy management also posted this message: “If you are familiar with Chic-Boys ginisang kangkong sa bawang, our kangkong is cut into bits. HOW COME IN THE PHOTO THEY POSTED, THE CATERPILLAR IS WHOLE?”
No other details were disclosed.
