Singer-actor Janno Gibbs didn’t hold back in defending himself after drawing flak online for expressing sympathy toward his friend Dennis Padilla amid the latter’s ongoing rift with his children, particularly daughter Claudia Barretto.
Janno found himself in hot water after he left three crying emojis on an Instagram post by Gene Padilla, Dennis’ brother, in reference to the controversy involving Dennis being treated as a “guest” at Claudia’s recent wedding.
Several netizens were quick to criticize Janno, calling him an “enabler” and accusing him of condoning Dennis’ actions.
Some of the comments read: “Enabler!” “Nangungunsinti na naman.” “Bwesit, manahimik ka!”
But Janno didn’t let the accusations slide. In a fiery response posted on his Instagram stories, he slammed the backlash:
“Mga put@ngin@nyo. Wala naman ako sinabing sang-ayon ako. Malungkot ang kaibigan ko, nakikisimpatya lang ako. Emoji lang, enabler na?”
“Hindi ko siya pinagtatanggol, mga ul*l. Dinadamayan ko lang sa kalungkutan. Mga t@nga,” he added, even punctuating his rant with a “dirty finger” emoji.
As of this writing, Dennis Padilla has yet to address the explosive statements made by his ex-wife Marjorie Barretto during her tell-all interview with Ogie Diaz.
Meanwhile, Dennis appears to be coping with the controversy through music. In a recent Facebook reel shared by Gene Padilla, Dennis was seen singing Rey Valera’s ‘Kung Kailangan Mo Ako’ on videoke—prompting mixed reactions from netizens, with some expressing sympathy and others urging him to move on.
