Kapuso heartthrob David Licauco has finally reacted to the buzz surrounding his unexpected viral moment with Kapamilya superstar Kathryn Bernardo—and yes, he was just as surprised and giddy as the rest of us.

The two were spotted together at the recent Bench: Body of Work fashion show, where they stood side-by-side at the end of the runway. While they didn’t exchange words during the event, their chemistry was palpable enough for netizens to begin “shipping” the two stars, sparking calls for a potential onscreen collaboration.
In an interview after the media conference for his upcoming film ‘Samahan ng mga Makasalanan’, David admitted he’s read the write-ups and seen the photos—and he’s just as thrilled.
“Nagulat ako siyempre,” David shared with a smile. “Growing up, si Kathryn ‘yung someone na I really looked up to. I watched all her movies with Daniel Padilla. I’m a fan.”
He continued, “And now, I’ve been seeing write-ups about us, kinikilig ka rin doon ‘di ba? Kahit naman sino. And I think everybody wants to work with Kathryn.”
David also greeted Kathryn on her 29th birthday, having seen her viral sultry shoot on Instagram. “Wow. Syempre coming from someone na pinapanood ko nung bata pa lang siya—bata pa rin naman ako noon—I’ve seen her growth as an actress and as a person. I’m really happy for her.”
Despite their brief runway moment, David clarified they weren’t able to interact onstage. “Ang dami niyang selfie requests. Hindi kami nakapag-usap,” he said, adding that while he wasn’t exactly kinikilig, he was definitely “happy lang.”
The Kapuso actor even posted their photo on his Instagram, much to the delight of their fans—many of whom now wish to see them together in a future project.

For now, David is focusing on his newest role in ‘Samahan ng mga Makasalanan’, where he plays Father Sam, a priest determined to redeem a ragtag group of sinners. The film also stars Sanya Lopez, Joel Torre, Buboy Villar, Betong Sumaya, Chariz Solomon, and Euwenn Mikaell. It opens in Philippine cinemas this Black Saturday, April 19, under the direction of Benedict Mique.
But with the public’s reaction to his unexpected pairing with Kathryn, who knows? A KathDavid film or series may not be so far-fetched.
