Bord Bia – The Irish food board hosted the Sustainable European Dairy from Ireland trade seminar marking the end of the three-year promotional campaign In the region. The campaign, has helped grow awareness of European Dairy from Ireland as a supplier of sustainable dairy products in the region, has seen a strong Interest from the Philippines over the past three years. The seminar, opened by H.E Emma Hickey, Ambassador of Ireland to the Philippines welcomed over 50 key representatives from the Philippine Dairy industry with interest in European Dairy from Ireland. During her welcome remarks, Ambassador Hickey noted that the European dairy from Ireland campaign has offered an excellent opportunity to strengthen links with Europe, Ireland and the Philippines dairy industries, and underscored the desire to continue building on these relationships in the future.

Sustainability in production and supply

Sustainability was the main feature of the seminar, with a panel of expert speakers from Bord Bia, StoneX and EverAg speaking on factors affecting global milk supply, such as climate change, animal welfare and regional economic Influences, and the market outlook for 2025.

YiFan Li, of StoneX Singapore gave a comprehensive review of current market activity, highlighting the impacts of milk price margins, production capacity and consumer confidence in production and supply, offering attendees a nuanced and forward-looking outlook for the dairy market in 2025.

Steve Spencer of EverAg offered an insights on exploration of on production capacity and its implications for global trade. Dissecting short-term and medium-term outlooks for dairy ingredient supply, providing a regional analysis of how these trends are expected to unfold across major markets and in Individual ingredient sectors.
Robert Murphy from Bord Bia presented on sustainable production methods ongoing in European Dairy from Ireland, Bord Bia’s Origin Green programme which not only supports environmental goals but also supports the implementation of stringent quality assurance and traceability for its products, in keeping with the EU’s high regulatory standards.

European dairy from Ireland and market opportunities in the Philippines

Following this overview, Murphy introduced the opportunities that sustainable European dairy from Ireland represents for the F&B industry in the Philippines. After doubling in value during the first year of the campaign, European dairy exports from Ireland to the Philippines have continued increasing until now, reaching a total of €77.1 million in 2023, the Central Statistics Office of Ireland (CSO) reported.
The trade seminar ended with a networking session, where attendees enjoyed a buffet featuring European Dairy from Ireland dairy ingredients, offering a first-hand experience of the high quality of European dairy from Ireland.

The Sustainable European Dairy from Ireland trade seminar is part of an EU co-financed awareness campaign that highlights Ireland’s high-quality standards in sustainable dairy production. The campaign’s last seminar in the Philippines was a key moment for Irish and Philippine businesses to connect and, together, find relevant solutions to supply Philippine consumers with proven quality dairy products. European Dairy from Ireland comes from the world’s only nation implementing a sustainable program that spans its entire dairy supply chain from farm to fork, the Origin Green scheme.
