Star Magic has taken a bold step forward with the official launch of the Star Magic School for the Creative & Performing Arts (SMSCPA)—a reimagined and expanded version of its beloved Star Magic Workshops.
The announcement was made during a media conference held on March 26, 2025, at ABS-CBN Studio 3, attended by top ABS-CBN executives, respected industry mentors, media, and aspiring performers eager to begin their creative journeys.
The SMSCPA is a milestone initiative that cements Star Magic’s role not only as a star builder but as an institution for comprehensive artistic training. The school offers a diverse curriculum encompassing acting, singing, dancing, directing, character building, and production—guided by some of the country’s most seasoned mentors.
Among the mentors present were Direk Laurenti Dyogi, Head of ABS-CBN TV Production; Raymund Dizon, Business Unit Head of Star Magic and ABS-CBN; and Direk Jon Moll, director of ‘It’s Showtime’ and the Biniverse concert. Theater coach Meann Espinosa, voice mentor Teacher Julie Anne Reyes, and Meisner acting instructors Teacher Alecx Lorica and Teacher Marcel David also joined the panel.
Dance training will be spearheaded by industry stalwarts including Coach Mickey Perz, Coach Reden Blanquera, Coach Matthew Almodovar, Coach Aennon Tabungar, and Coach Josh Junio, while Anna Graham and Jerwin Nicomedes will oversee the voice training for aspiring singers.
The event also featured powerful performances from Talia Concio and BGYO, two talents who embody the Star Magic vision.
With SMSCPA, Star Magic expands its reach beyond individual training modules. It introduces full programs such as:
- Meisner Core Program – For foundational and advanced acting
- PopShop Workshop – A training ground for aspiring triple-threat performers (singing, dancing, stage presence)
- Voice Workshop – To enhance vocal skills for stage, screen, or recording
- Directing & Production Courses – For live shows, music videos, and non-narrative formats
- Character Building and Theater Training
Coach Mickey Perz emphasized the need to elevate talent into skill: “A lot of people have talent, but talent will only get you so far. What drives you forward is training, effort, and the right environment.”
Voice coach Julie Anne Reyes shared her pride over alumni Sofronio Vasquez, the The Voice Season 26 US champion, who trained with them for five consecutive cycles—from basic to master class.
Several mentors highlighted successful graduates who began their journeys through Star Magic’s training, including Joshua Garcia, Arjo Atayde, Alora Sasam, and Dimples Romana. These names stand as proof of the solid foundation built by years of rigorous workshops.
Teacher HB Benitez shared a powerful insight: “Acting is more than just memorizing lines. It’s about finding truth, understanding the complexities of the human experience, and using that to connect with an audience.”
On-site enrollment for SMSCPA will open on March 29–30 and April 5–6, 2025, at the 6th Floor, DTC Building, ABS-CBN, from 9 AM to 5 PM. Limited slots are available.

It’s a space where creativity is nurtured, discipline is instilled, and dreams are given structure. In the words of Raymund Dizon, “This school will be a sanctuary of creativity—a place where potential is nurtured and stars are born.”
