Yes, you’ve read it right! “No Ragrets” is the newest single of OPM band SALA – a song that not only carries a unique and candid backstory but is also full of emotions and deeper meanings.
Produced by AltG Records, “No Ragrets” is available on all digital streaming platforms starting March 21. The song is about the painful truth that sometimes, lovers end up letting go of each other.
Like the household common room, SALA—composed of Ronald Villadar, Neth Macam, Fourth Dayag, and Rigil Borromeo—brings a refreshing and relaxing twist to songs about love, life, and laughs, which are sure to provide a chill listening experience.
According to Neth, he wrote the song nine years ago about a couple who had matching tattoos, “May tinatambayan akong tattoo shop kung saan nakita ko ‘yung happy couple na sabay nagpa-tattoo. Tapos na-witness ko rin sila isa-isa na pinapa-cover up ‘yung couple tattoo habang hindi na ganun kasaya ang mga mukha nila.”
He also shares the witty explanation behind the song title, “Si Fourth kasi active sa social media and may pinakita siya sa aming ‘meme’ na ang naka-tattoo doon sa guy ‘yung wrong spelling ng no regrets. ‘No ragrets’ ang nakalagay kaya ito na ginamit naming title.”
Despite the seemingly superficial story of where the single was inspired from, “No Ragrets” actually has a meaningful lesson about moving on. Neth highlights his favorite lyrics, “Sa butas ng karayom idadaan, alaala na matatabunan.”
In this line, the composer literally describes the pain of having a tattoo. While metaphorically, it tells about how difficult it is to forget a special someone. But when it is the best thing left to do, one must cherish the good things shared and continue life with no regrets.
