Actress Heaven Peralejo recently revealed that her aunt, former actress Rica Peralejo, advised her not to follow the same career path of doing sexy roles in showbiz.
During her guest appearance on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ on February 26, Heaven discussed her family ties to the Peralejo sisters, Rica and Paula, and how their shared surname often sparks curiosity among fans.
Heaven clarified that she is the niece of Rica and Paula, as her mother and Rica’s father are siblings. Despite their family connection, she does not feel pressured to live up to their showbiz legacies.
“Sa mga tao naman po, nakakatuwa lang na minsan, ‘O, nagka-work kayo ng tita mo.’ It’s a good conversation starter na lang, pero bakit mo siya titingnan as a pressure? Bakit hindi pwedeng you’re making something of your own?” she said.
Heaven shared that whenever she reunites with Rica, her aunt reminds her not to take on sexy roles in her career.
“Ang sinasabi niya every time na nagre-reunion kami—actually, recently nagkita lang kami—sabi niya, ‘Naku, ‘wag kang magse-sexy, ha,’” she recounted.
When asked by host Boy Abunda why Rica gave her such advice, Heaven explained that her aunt believes she doesn’t need to go down that route to succeed in showbiz.
“Hindi na daw kailangan. ‘Wag na. Maganda na ‘yong career mo.’ Sabi ko, totoo naman. Wala naman po, wala naman akong plano,” she added.
While she respects her aunt’s advice, Heaven acknowledged that many people still perceive her as a naturally sexy actress.
“I actually embrace it. Masabihan kang sexy, Tito Boy. Of course, thank you!” she said.
Rica Peralejo, who once starred in daring roles before shifting to a more conservative lifestyle, appears to be guiding her niece toward a different path in the entertainment industry.
With her successful projects, including the hit series ‘Linlang’, Heaven continues to carve her own identity in showbiz while staying true to her principles and family values.
