The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has officially announced its partnership with GoTyme Bank, a move set to accelerate the growth of Philippine football through financial support, grassroots programs, and international competitions.
The three-year partnership, launched on Tuesday, March 19, 2025, at the Ortigas Center in Mandaluyong City, marks a significant step in ensuring sustainable support for the national men’s and women’s teams, as well as for aspiring young footballers across the country.
GoTyme Bank President and CEO Nate Clarke emphasized their commitment to backing the national teams financially, ensuring that Filipino athletes receive the necessary resources to compete on the global stage.
“We’re trying to help on some of the big things and lots of small things. We’re pledging financial support for the next three years,” Clarke stated, receiving applause from those in attendance.
This funding will cover team allowances, training expenses, and international travel, giving the country’s top football talents the best opportunities to excel.
A major highlight of the partnership is the inaugural GoTyme Bank Cup 2025, scheduled for September this year. The tournament will bring together national teams from the Philippines, South Africa, Vietnam, and Singapore in a high-stakes competition designed to test the mettle of the country’s football squads.
PFF Director of Senior National Teams Freddy Gonzalez expressed excitement over the tournament’s potential in strengthening Philippine football.
“We both share the goal of bringing Philippine football further, not only by supporting our national teams but also by developing training camps for young kids. This is a shared vision that shows GoTyme Bank is the right partner to help us build the future of Filipino football.”
Beyond supporting professional teams, GoTyme Bank and the PFF are also investing in grassroots development programs aimed at young footballers aged 5 to 7 years old.
According to GoTyme Bank Co-CEO Abet Tinio, these initiatives will be rolled out nationwide, engaging different schools and local communities to develop the next generation of Filipino footballers.
“The target grassroots here are kids across different schools in the country. The intent is really to nurture their love for the game and ensure they have the resources to train properly.”
These programs will not only focus on football training but also incorporate values formation and financial education, reinforcing GoTyme Bank’s commitment to holistic development.
The partnership also includes exclusive perks for football fans, such as:
- Limited edition football merchandise
- Discounts on match tickets
- Meet-and-greet events with national players
- Community watch parties for major tournaments
These initiatives are designed to enhance fan experience and build stronger local support for Philippine football.
While this partnership currently focuses on football, GoTyme Bank hinted at future sponsorships for other emerging sports in the country.
“We’re not just focusing on mainstream sports. We want to support sports that are on a global trajectory but need more institutional backing,” Clarke explained.
With the Philippine Men’s National Football Team set to compete against Maldives in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, this partnership comes at a crucial time. Midfielder Sandro Reyes emphasized the importance of securing every win, stating:
“Every game is like a final. Only the top teams move forward, so we need to give our best performance every match.”
Head coach Albert Capellas also reiterated his vision for long-term football success, focusing on consistency in training and player development.
