South Korean singer Lee Changsub, member of the K-pop boy group BTOB, brought an emotional, high-energy performance to his Filipino fans during his solo concert ‘The Wayfarer’, held Saturday night, March 22, 2025, at the SM North EDSA Skydome in Quezon City.
The show, mounted by L-Squared Productions PH, marked Changsub’s return to the country nearly a year after performing with his BTOB bandmates. This time, however, he took the stage alone—showcasing his growth as a soloist and his deep connection to Filo Melodies, the official fandom name of BTOB supporters in the Philippines.
“Philippines! Kamusta kayo? Ako ay (si) Changsub Lee. Namiss ko kayo! Salamat po sa suporta,” he greeted fans in Filipino, drawing cheers from the packed Skydome.
The concert opened with electrifying performances of ‘Chivalry’ and ‘Golden Hour,’ exclusive live renditions that had fans screaming. “Grabe, namiss ko talaga ‘yung sigaw ng bawat isa. Welcome to The Wayfarer, Lee Changsub’s solo concert,” he said.
According to Changsub, the concert’s title ‘The Wayfarer’ symbolizes a traveler—fitting for the artist who has toured several cities across Asia. “We started this concert tapos nagpunta ako sa iba’t ibang cities and finally nandito na ako sa Pilipinas,” he shared.
He kept the energy high with performances of ‘Saturday Night’ and ‘Stay.’ Reflecting on the difficulty of recording the latter, Changsub admitted: “Medyo madilim ‘yung kanta ‘di ba (Stay)… Actually, itong recording ng kantang ito is the longest time when I released songs. Ito talaga ‘yung pinakamahirap.”
He also revealed that ‘Stay’ was not supposed to have choreography, but his team felt it needed one for the live concert. “Noong nagprepare ako ng concert, sabi ng choreographer dapat may sayaw ang kantang ito.”
Adding humor to the show, a VCR segment comically “charged” Changsub with a verdict of being “guilty of false hope.” He then performed ‘Old Town,’ ‘Vain Hope,’ and ‘I Guess I Loved You,’ and praised fans for singing along.
Changsub also performed Roy Kim’s ‘Only Then’ from his YouTube cover series. He followed this with an a cappella version of PSY’s ‘Refuge’ and his OST ‘Heavenly Fate.’
During the upbeat ‘Bump Bump,’ the audience jumped so enthusiastically that the Skydome itself seemed to shake. “You guys are really good at jumping. Amazing!” Changsub said, before giving in to the crowd’s chant of “Isa pa!” for an encore of the same song.
As the concert neared its end, he performed ‘As Always’ and ’33’ as a tribute to his fans. He was visibly touched when fans surprised him with a special video and letters delivered via paper planes.
He closed the night with ‘Run,’ leaving fans with a promise: “Stay healthy, stay happy and let’s meet again. Next year, and the following year and more years to come. I hope and pray that we will live for a long long time.”
Lee Changsub debuted with BTOB in 2012 and has since carved a path as a solo artist with albums like bpm 82.5 (2017), Mark (2018), and his most recent full-length release 1991 (2024).
‘The Wayfarer’ concert in Manila is part of his ongoing solo tour across Asia.
