‘Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition’ took an emotional turn when Kapuso star Josh Ford shared his deeply personal experiences of losing his father and surviving a fatal car crash that took the lives of three of his companions, including Kapuso star Andrei Sison.
As part of a house task, the celebrity housemates were asked to recount their journeys in the entertainment industry. Josh, who was the last to share, revealed the heartbreaking challenges he has faced in his life and career.
Josh recounted that he began auditioning for roles at a young age, encouraged by his British father, who took great pride in seeing him on television. However, in 2017, his life took a devastating turn when his father passed away—an event he described as his first heartbreak.
“Noong 2017 ‘yon, first heartbreak ko. That’s when my Dad passed away,” he said, visibly emotional.
Josh shared that he and his father were extremely close, and his father’s unwavering support for his career made his loss even more painful.
“I see my Dad as my best friend. Natutuwa ‘yung Dad ko na makita ako sa TV. Kinabukasan na nangyari ‘yon, dapat may taping kami. ‘Di natuloy, hindi ko kaya eh,” he revealed.
Following his father’s passing, Josh and his family traveled to the United Kingdom for the funeral, initially planning to stay for two months. However, their stay extended for several years, during which he completed his college education in 2022.
Despite the grief, Josh remained determined to pursue his acting career and returned to the Philippines to continue chasing his dreams.
Just as things were falling into place, tragedy struck once again. In March 2023, Josh was involved in a devastating car crash that claimed the lives of his three companions, including fellow Kapuso talent Andrei Sison.
Josh was the only survivor.
“There were four of us in the car at ako lang ‘yung naka-survive. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, ‘Bakit ako na naman? Ba’t heto na naman? May nangyari na naman,’” he recalled, struggling to hold back his emotions.
Losing his closest friends in the accident changed his outlook on life, making him realize how fragile and unpredictable it can be.
“Everything could change. You have to be nice to people. Live your life every single day as if it is your last kasi you’ll never know if it’s your last day or not,” he reflected.
Josh admitted that it took him a long time to heal from the traumatic experience.
“After nun, it took me really long to get back to what I am now.”
As Josh spoke, Kapamilya housemate Ralph de Leon was quick to console him, sensing the weight of his emotions.
“Mabigat pa kasi sa akin ‘yon, pero hindi ko kasi pinapakita sa ibang tao. I don’t like showing it to people, but I had to say it. Deep down, I could feel na kaya kong sabihin,” Josh told Ralph.
Meanwhile, Kapamilya houseguest Ivana Alawi shared some heartfelt advice.
“Sometimes kailangan mo ring umiyak, kailangan mo ring maramdaman ‘yung lahat ng pain. Kasi feeling ko lagi kang nagtatago ng emotions,” she told him.
Josh, clearly moved by the support of his housemates, managed to smile at Ivana’s words.
Josh’s revelation deeply affected his fellow housemates, including Kapuso star Charlie Fleming, who was seen wiping away tears. Charlie admitted that he was shocked to learn about the painful past of their usually cheerful housemate.
Ivana also praised Josh’s courage and resilience, commending him for continuing to pursue his dreams despite the hardships he has endured.
