After a hiatus from teleseryes, Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson is officially returning to primetime television in ‘Sins of the Father’, the newest offering from JRB Creative Productions, slated to air later this year.
Anderson will take on the lead role of Samuel—a character he described as complex and timely, marking what he sees as a perfect comeback project.
“This is the perfect platform, the perfect vehicle para bumalik,” Anderson said during the show’s grand announcement. “Lalo sa sitwasyon natin as a company, hindi naman tayo maraming shows na napo-produce. But when we do, quality ‘yan, at hindi nakakahiyang ipakita sa ibang tao.”
Joining him in the powerhouse cast are actresses Jessy Mendiola and Shaina Magdayao. Magdayao admitted that she had been preparing to leave the Philippines for career opportunities abroad, but the show came at the right moment and changed her plans.
“It is an answered prayer… I’ve been praying for a reason to stay longer,” Magdayao shared. “May opportunity sana to go abroad, but this project came. Kung ganito kaganda ‘yung project, ang hirap niyang hindihan. I’m also thrilled to work with Direk FM Reyes again.”
Reuniting onscreen for this series are rising young stars Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin. Both expressed excitement and nervousness about being part of a high-caliber cast.
“Sobrang nakakakaba, nakakatakot,” said Diaz. “Pero siyempre na-eexcite din kami kasi panibagong learnings ito.”
Fedelin added, “First time naming makatrabaho sina Kuya Gerald, Sir Tirso [Cruz III], pati si Direk FM Reyes. Andoon ‘yong kaba at pressure, pero masaya rin kami to be part of this project.”
The ensemble cast also includes JC de Vera, Joko Diaz, Tirso Cruz III, RK Bagatsing, Soliman Cruz, Nico Antonio, Jerald Napoles, and LA Santos.
‘Sins of the Father’ is under the direction of FM Reyes, produced by JRB Creative Productions with Business Unit Head Julie Anne R. Benitez and Creative Manager Dindo Perez. The series will air on ABS-CBN platforms later this year.
