Kapamilya star Coco Martin has publicly extended his forgiveness to former partner Katherine Luna and expressed his willingness to support her, both medically and professionally.
In a recent ‘Showbiz Update’ vlog by Ogie Diaz, the entertainment host revealed that he personally informed Coco about Katherine’s interview with journalist Julius Babao, where she issued an emotional public apology to the actor.
The issue dates back to the early 2000s when Katherine claimed that her child was fathered by Coco. However, a DNA test later confirmed that Coco was not the biological father, leading to a long-standing controversy.
Despite their past, Coco was sympathetic upon learning about Katherine’s struggles, including her recent incarceration and health issues, which have affected her ability to work.
“Naaawa raw siya kay Katherine,” Ogie shared, recounting Coco’s response to the interview.
In a message relayed by Ogie, Coco shared that he wants to fund Katherine’s eye surgery, which would allow her to regain her independence and find stable work.
“Gusto ko siyang tulungan, nakulong pala siya. Gusto ko sanang mapaopera ang mga mata niya para makapagtrabaho uli siya. Sabihin mo, kukunin ko siya sa ‘Batang Quiapo’ kahit hindi pa ayos ang mata niya para magkaroon siya agad ng trabaho at tuloy niyang maiayos ang kanyang buhay lalo na para sa mga anak niya,” Coco said.
However, the ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ lead actor also emphasized that Katherine must commit to turning her life around.
“Pero sana maipangako niya sa akin na aayusin niya ang buhay niya at hindi na siya babalik sa dating bisyo. Puwede akong maghanap kung saan niya puwedeng ipaopera ang mga mata niya kung papayag siya,” he added.
Coco also made it clear that he has moved on from the past and holds no grudges against Katherine.
“Pakisabi, napatawad ko na siya at kalimutan na namin iyon. Ang importante ay ‘yung ngayon, at gusto ko siyang matulungang makabalik ulit sa trabaho para sa panibagong buhay niya,” he assured.
Ogie shared that when he relayed Coco’s message, Katherine was overcome with emotion and gratitude.
“Sabi ko, ‘Mare, kapag tinulungan ka ni Coco, ‘wag mo nang sayangin. Alam mo, ang inaalala niya, kayo nu’ng araw na walang-wala. Si Coco, hindi nakakalimutan ‘yung mga nakasama niya noong araw na wala siya, binabalikan niya para tulungan. Kaya huwag mong sasayangin,’” Ogie recounted.
Katherine reportedly accepted Coco’s offer, expressing deep appreciation for his forgiveness and kindness.
Katherine initially hesitated about accepting a role in ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ due to insecurities about her dental condition. However, upon learning about this, Coco immediately offered to cover her dental treatment as well.
“Papaayos ko ‘yung ngipin niya,” Coco said.
