Kapamilya actor and director Coco Martin has teased an exciting new direction for ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ as it enters Book 2, revealing that the upcoming chapters will dive deeper into family backstories while incorporating a political storyline.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Coco expressed his excitement about developing the narrative, particularly the history of Tindeng, played by Charo Santos-Concio.
Tindeng is the mother of Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) and grandmother of Tanggol (Coco Martin). As Batang Quiapo moves forward, the show will explore how her past intertwines with the present challenges of Tanggol and their family.
Aside from character-driven storytelling, Coco hinted at a significant political angle in the show’s upcoming episodes.
This shift is expected to add more complexity to the series, further raising the stakes for Tanggol and the people around him.
The ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ fever continues to heat up as the show recently hit over one million concurrent viewers on Kapamilya Online Live on YouTube—a major milestone for the primetime series.
Coco shared how rewarding it was to see their hard work pay off.
“Kapag ang isang bagay pinaghirapan mo, laging merong magandang kapalit. At ‘yun ang naging magandang kapalit.”
The record-breaking episode featured the much-awaited confrontation between Tanggol (Coco Martin), Ramon Montenegro (Christopher de Leon), David (McCoy de Leon), and Rigor (John Estrada).
With ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ heading into its second book, viewers can look forward to: Tindeng’s backstory and its connection to Tanggol, a deeper dive into the characters’ pasts, and a major political storyline that could change the course of Tanggol’s life.
Don’t miss ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ Book 2, airing on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
