Comedian-actor Buboy Villar has broken his silence following serious accusations made by his former partner, Angillyn Gorens, who recently alleged on social media that she had experienced physical and verbal abuse during their relationship.
In a televised interview on ’24 Oras’, Villar denied ever hurting Gorens, emphasizing that his upbringing shaped his views on domestic violence.
“Dumaan sa buhay ko na ‘yung tatay ko rin ay nananakit sa aking nanay. Alam ko po na mali ang manakit ng babae. Mahal na mahal ko ‘yung nanay ko, kaya kahit kailan, hindi ko maisipan na saktan siya,” he said.
Gorens’ claims, posted on Facebook, included details of alleged physical violence, emotional distress, and repeated infidelity by Villar. She also posted photos of bruises and screenshots of their past conversations. According to Gorens, the abuse worsened over time, prompting her to end their relationship for her safety and the well-being of their children.
“Habang tumatagal, lumalala ‘yung pagiging violent niya. Masakit mang iwan siya pero kailangan kong gawin dahil baka mapatay na lang niya ako dati,” she wrote.
She also raised concerns about Villar’s alleged lack of financial support and dwindling presence in the lives of their two children, Vlanz Karollyn and George Michael. Gorens said the children had started asking questions about their father’s absence.
Addressing the child support issue, Villar explained that arrangements had already been settled with Gorens and her family through legal means.
“Napag-usapan na namin ito ng legal at aprub ito ng VAWC [Violence Against Women and Children] last year. Sinabi ko talaga kung ano ‘yung kaya ko as a father, so naisarado naman po namin nang maayos ‘yun,” he said.
While visibly emotional, Villar said he was still trying to process the situation and would rather go through it peacefully.
“Hindi ako para manira ng tao. Kaya ‘yung mga gano’ng bagay, pinagdadasal ko na lang po talaga,” he added.
He also shared that he had already spoken with Gorens’ mother and hopes to eventually forgive and move forward.
The controversy emerged shortly after Villar publicly introduced his current non-showbiz partner and their three-month-old baby in an episode of his podcast ‘Your Honor’, hosted with Tuesday Vargas.
Villar and Gorens were engaged in 2017 and had planned to marry in the U.S., but eventually separated in 2020. Their two children currently live with Gorens and her parents.
As of writing, Gorens has not issued any further public statements, and no legal action has been announced on either side.
