Actress Andrea Brillantes has addressed speculation surrounding her love life, confirming that while she is currently dating, she is “not yet in a relationship” with former basketball player Sam Fernandez.
Brillantes spoke about the matter during an interview on ‘TV Patrol’ on Monday, March 10, after a video of her and Fernandez at an event on March 7 was shown during the segment.
“Sinabi ko naman na open naman ako sa pagde-date kasi magtu-two years din naman na walang boyfriend,” she told entertainment reporter MJ Felipe.
She then confirmed her current dating status, saying, “I am dating someone right now. He’s a private person, non-showbiz siya.”
When Felipe asked if she was referring to the man who gave her a huge bouquet of pink roses on Valentine’s Day, Brillantes responded:
“Yes, and he’s also not a basketball player. He used to play.”
Although Brillantes did not explicitly mention Fernandez’s name, he was previously spotted holding the bouquet while on a date with her last February 14.
“I’ve known him for a while. We’ve been friends for many, many years na,” she added. “Not yet in a relationship. I’m just dating.”
Fernandez, a former high school basketball player for San Beda, first sparked dating rumors with Brillantes when they were seen together on Valentine’s Day. Days later, the two were again spotted holding hands while walking at an event in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
