A new franchise may be granted to ABS-CBN once the Congress pass the bill seeking for it.
While ABS-CBN’s return as a free TV network may happen soon, It’s Showtime is likely to remain airing under the Kapuso Network until the noontime show’s contract with GMA Network expires.
The Kapamilya-produced show renewed ties with the network recently, after speculations about its contract expiring, emerged late last year.
And it seems It’s Showtime, and its hosts, have no anticipation of leaving GMA Network very soon. During the airing of the noontime show, earlier today, February 18, a studio player named Dolores, for the Hide and Sing segment, unceremoniously announced “Ibalik ang Dos” when asked about which of the three hidden singers (Tago Kanta) she thinks is the celebrity singer. Nanay Dolores and celebrity player, Janice de Belen both suspected “Singer No.2” is the celebrity singer, and both agreed it was Kapuso Singer, Mark Bautista, which turned out to be the correct answer.
Vice, amused at the player’s answer, wittingly responded “Ay, taga-Kongreso yata si Mother! Ibalik ang Dos?!“.
He then added, “…pero happy naman po kami sa GMA Network, mother. Wag nyo kaming idinadamay sa ganyan…”, humurously clarifying, “May kontrata kami sa GMA”.
It is not clear, however, how long It’s Showtime is expected to remain under GMA Network. Amid the speculations of GMA Network not renewing ‘It’s Showtime’, last year, Kapuso top executive, Atty. Annete Gozon, expressed willingness to keep the Kapamilya program in the network, noting its high ratings.
