Miss Eco International 2018 and actress Thia Thomalla recently celebrated a double milestone—the first anniversary of her business venture, Ayumi Eyelash Boutique, and her 30th birthday in a special event held at Ayala Malls The 30th in Pasig City on February 22, 2025.
Ayumi, a Japanese-inspired beauty salon, is known for authentic Japanese eyelash extensions and intricate nail art services. The salon prides itself on using premium Japan-made lashes, which are lightweight, natural-looking, and water-resistant. The establishment also offers a variety of nail services, including gel manicures, acrylic nails, and artistic nail designs.
During the celebration, Thia expressed her excitement about her journey as a first-time business owner.
“Being an entrepreneur is fun because I’ve learned so much. Managing a business means dealing with different personalities—both from my staff and our clients. I love observing people and understanding how they respond to different situations,” she shared in an interview with LionhearTV.
Although business is not something that runs in her family, Thia acknowledged that she is grateful for the guidance of her fiancé, John Castelar, who comes from a family of entrepreneurs.
“John and his family have been guiding me in this journey. Even Mommy Rei (Rhea Anicoche-Tan) from Beautéderm has been very helpful whenever I have questions about running a business. I’m really grateful for their support,” she added.
As one of Beautéderm’s endorsers since March 2023, Thia’s commitment to the beauty industry is evident, with Beautéderm products displayed inside Ayumi Eyelash Boutique. The partnership highlights her strong relationship with the brand as she continues to advocate for beauty and wellness.
Aside from being a beauty entrepreneur, Thia is preparing for a major personal milestone—her wedding to John Castelar. The couple got engaged last December, and Thia excitedly shared the news on social media with heartwarming photos from the proposal.
Meanwhile, her acting career remains strong, with her previous projects, ‘First Yaya’ and ‘First Lady,’ now streaming on Netflix.
