Kapamilya host Robi Domingo personally visited the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to seek guidance on handling online threats and harassment, following a controversial exchange on social media.
On Thursday, February 27, Robi took to Instagram to share photos of his visit to the NBI, where he met with Chief Bomediano and Atty. Tucay.
In his post, Robi emphasized the importance of accountability in the digital space.
“ACCOUNTABILITY,” he wrote. “I visited the NBI today and met with Chief Bomediano and Atty. Tucay. Thank you for answering all my questions!”
He also outlined key takeaways from his discussion with NBI officials regarding filing complaints against online harassment and threats.
Anyone can file a complaint against any government agency, especially if their safety is at risk. Filing is free.
Always take screenshots of complaints and the URL. Even if a post is deleted, the digital trace remains. (If someone deletes it, it could indicate intent.)
Whether it’s a troll or not, there is a real person behind the screen, and they are still responsible for their actions.
Robi’s visit to the NBI follows a viral incident where a netizen issued a warning against him regarding his co-hosts on ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ (PGT)—Kathryn Bernardo and Donny Pangilinan.
The netizen, who appeared to be a fan of DonBelle (Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano’s loveteam), left a now-deleted comment warning Robi not to promote a pairing between Kathryn and Donny.
The comment read: “@iamrobidomingo ay subukan mo lang na i-match si @donny at @bernardokath ready ready and solid supporters ni Belle Mariano na ibash ka mula ulo mo hanggang paa. WAG MO ITOLERATE yung KA LANDIAN ng peste mong kaibigan.”
Robi questioned the intent behind the comment, responding: “Can I consider this as a threat? Can I take legal actions against this? I don’t tolerate this behavior.”
Shortly after, the netizen deleted their comment.
In a follow-up comment, Robi clarified that he did not remove the original post but noted that its deletion could indicate malicious intent.
“BTW, I didn’t delete the comment the troll made. It was him/her who removed it from the comment section, thus deleting the whole thread. (Also, it may become additional proof of intent because of malice.)”
He ended his statement with a call for responsibility in social media use: “Remember, every action has consequences, whether online or offline. Let’s be kind and take responsibility.”
Robi’s move highlights the growing concern over cyber harassment and the legal implications of online behavior.
