Young actress Lauren King is making waves as the newest kontrabida in GMA Afternoon Prime’s hit drama ‘Prinsesa ng City Jail’.
The 17-year-old Fil-Australian talent from Pampanga plays Libby, the main antagonist to Sofia Pablo’s character in the show.
Lauren admitted feeling a mix of excitement and nerves when she landed the role, especially since she would be working alongside Sofia Pablo and Allen Ansay, who are popularly known as Team Jolly.
“May kaba po talaga because I will be working with Team Jolly. Siyempre po, Team Jolly na ‘yan e. Meron na po talaga silang na-build na name dito sa industry,” she shared during the show’s recent media conference.
However, her apprehensions eased as filming progressed, thanks to the growing camaraderie among the cast.
“Habang tumatagal po ‘yung taping, talagang na-build po namin ‘yung friendship na meron kami ngayon,” she said.
Lauren also revealed that her intense fight scenes with Sofia Pablo were so realistic that their director, Jerry Lopez Sineneng, thought they might have personal conflicts in real life.
“Minsan tinatanong na rin po kami ni Direk Jerry kung magkaaway ba kami in real life ni Sofia? Kung may galit ba kami sa isa’t isa? Kasi talagang grabe po ‘yung mga scenes na ginagawa po namin,” she recalled. “Ginalingan lang po namin.”
Despite being a newcomer, Lauren has embraced the challenge of portraying a strong antagonist, proving her potential in the industry.
She joins a powerhouse cast that includes Sofia Pablo, Allen Ansay, Pokwang, Almira Muhlach, Thea Tolentino, and John Feir in ‘Prinsesa ng City Jail’, airing Mondays to Saturdays on GMA Afternoon Prime.
