Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu surprised fans with a candid confession during the media conference for her upcoming film ‘My Love Will Make You Disappear’—she used to watch Paulo Avelino when he was still a contestant on GMA Network’s ‘StarStruck’ Batch 4.
The revelation came as the two actors reflected on their working relationship, which started with the hit 2023 Kapamilya drama ‘Linlang’ and continued with their recent pairing in the Philippine adaptation of ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim’ in 2024.
During the mediacon, Kim was asked if she ever thought she would become close with Paulo after working together on multiple projects.
“Hindi ko nga alam na makakatrabaho ko ‘to (sabay lingon kay Paulo) sa 18 years ko sa industry. Kelan ba tayo nagka-[trabaho]? Pang 16th year ko sa pagiging artista. ‘Di ba sabay tayong nagsimula? Mas matanda ka lang sa akin,” Kim said.
Paulo, in response, playfully admitted that he had been aware of Kim’s career since her days in ‘Pinoy Big Brother’.
“High school pa lang, pinapanood na kita sa Pinoy Big Brother,” Paulo quipped.
To everyone’s surprise, Kim then revealed that she had been following Paulo’s career for just as long.
“Uy, hindi ha! Pinapanood kita sa StarStruck! Sumasayaw ka pa nga!” Kim recalled.
Paulo, clearly amused, responded with a smile.
“So, pinapanood mo na ako ng mga panahong ‘yun?”
Kim took it one step further by admitting she even voted for him during his reality show stint.
“Actually, bumoto ako,” she said with a laugh, sending the entire room into cheers.
Even director Chad Vidanes and the rest of the production team couldn’t help but react to Kim’s unexpected confession.
Their undeniable chemistry has made their team-up a success, but Kim admitted that things weren’t always this easy.
“Dati naiilang pa kami, ngayon hampasan na kami,” Kim said, highlighting how their friendship has grown.
Paulo, on the other hand, revealed that although he had always wanted to work with Kim, he never expected their careers to align so frequently.
“I never expected me to actually… hindi ko alam na makakatrabaho ko si Kim,” Paulo admitted. “But I wanted to work with her, pero hindi ko ini-expect kasi parang after a while, nag-iba na rin ang tahak at marami akong gustong gawin. At hindi ko alam na kay Kim pala ang bagsak ko.”
The playful exchange between the two actors had fans excited for their upcoming film, ‘My Love Will Make You Disappear’, which premieres on March 26.
Directed by Chad Vidanes and produced by ABS-CBN Studios and Star Cinema, the film is based on a real-life story of director-writer Prime Cruz’s friend, who recounted his heartbreak during a drinking session.
