Actress Katrina Halili has finally come to terms with her past, revealing that she has forgiven herself for the challenges and controversies she has faced over the years.
In a recent interview with GMA Integrated News, the Kapuso star spoke candidly about her journey to self-acceptance, saying she does not feel the need to apologize to others—only to herself.
“May kasalanan ako sa sarili ko, wala akong dapat i-sorry sa ibang tao. Parang sa sarili ko ako nagkaroon ng kasalanan, ‘di ba? Kung mayroon akong hihingan ng tawad, kay Lord,” she said.
“Napatawad ko na [ang sarili ko]. Hindi naman ako makakatayo ngayon kung hindi ko napatawad ‘yung sarili ko,” she added.
Katrina was at the center of a high-profile scandal in 2009, when an intimate video of her and celebrity doctor Hayden Kho leaked online. The controversy significantly impacted her career and personal life, forcing her to step away from the limelight for some time.
She also experienced another major life change when she separated from singer Kris Lawrence, the father of her child. Despite these hardships, Katrina has remained strong, focusing on her career, motherhood, and personal growth.
Currently starring in GMA Afternoon Prime’s ‘Mommy Dearest’, Katrina is working alongside Camille Prats, who has also experienced significant loss.
Camille, who lost her first husband Anthony Linsangan in 2011, recalled how Katrina was there for her during one of the most difficult periods of her life.
“When I lost my first husband, I was working with her during ‘Munting Heredera.’ So, somehow, she witnessed that season of my life,” Camille shared.
Now, years later, their roles have reversed. While filming ‘Mommy Dearest’, Katrina was grieving the loss of her boyfriend, who passed away in early 2024.
“Nakita niya ako at my lowest, na-witness niya ‘yun. At the same time, nandito rin ako sa buhay niya ngayon while she was going through that,” Camille added.
Katrina admitted that while pain and loss are difficult to bear, she and Camille have learned to embrace their struggles rather than resist them.
“‘Mars, tinatanggap natin, ‘no? Pero may iba na hindi ‘yan, hindi tatanggapin, ayaw na, ayaw muna. Pero tayo tinatanggap nating dalawa,” she said.
She also shared how she has learned to balance her emotions, keeping them in check while working but allowing herself time to grieve privately.
“Kunwari magte-take, pipigilan ko hanggang mag-pack up, tsaka ako iiyak,” she admitted.
With a new perspective on life, Katrina is embracing her latest project, ‘Mommy Dearest,’ which premieres on February 24 at 3:20 p.m. on GMA Afternoon Prime, following ‘Prinsesa ng City Jail’.
