Katherine Luna explains why she initially named Coco Martin as the father of her child

Former actress Katherine Luna has addressed the long-standing controversy involving her daughter, Nicole, and actor Coco Martin.

In a recent interview with Julius Babao’s YouTube vlog, Katherine clarified the events surrounding the paternity issue and publicly apologized to Coco for the misunderstanding.

Katherine and Coco first met while filming the independent movie ‘Pagkagat ng Dilim’, which led to a short-lived romance. However, as their relationship cooled off, Katherine met someone else and became involved with him.

Several months later, she found out she was pregnant and immediately thought Coco could be the father.

“After three months, nalaman kong buntis ako at si Coco lang talaga ang pumasok sa isip ko na posibleng ama although aminado ako na alanganin ako.”

Despite her uncertainty, she informed Coco about the pregnancy and mentioned that he might be the father.

“Sinabi ko sa kanya na buntis ako, at ang sabi ko lang, ‘baka ikaw’ ang ama.”

According to Katherine, Coco remained calm and supportive, even purchasing a crib for the baby before she gave birth.

As her daughter grew older, Katherine began to question whether Coco was truly the biological father.

“Siyempre, nanay ako. Bilang nanay, makikita mo ‘yung mukha, eh. Parang hindi niya kamukha. Parang nag-iiba ‘yung mukha ni Nicole.”

She admitted that, over time, she realized the child did not resemble Coco, making her doubt the initial assumption. However, she found it difficult to retract her statement because the issue had already become public.

“Ang hirap na lang bawiin. Alam mo kung bakit? Unang-una, merong bata, eh. Anak ko kasi ‘yung pinag-uusapan, eh. Ano ang mararamdaman niya?”

Katherine shared that Coco had been spending time with Nicole through her mother, who facilitated their interactions. However, unknown to her, Coco later had a DNA test conducted, which confirmed that he was not the child’s father.

“Nahihiram daw ni Coco si Nicole. Tapos, nagbigay daw ng pera si Coco kay Mama, du’n ako nagalit din kay Mama.”

Katherine said she was upset upon learning that her mother had accepted financial assistance from Coco, as she never intended to ask for money from him.

“Kasi, unang-una sa lahat, ako nga, hindi ko ginawang way ‘yun para magkapera ako, eh. Pero kung tutuusin, kaya ko naman, eh. Kung walanghiya akong tao.”

She admitted that she wanted to tell Coco the truth sooner but did not know how to do it.

In an emotional moment, Katherine publicly apologized to Coco for dragging him into the controversy and causing him unnecessary trouble.

“Sobrang hiyang-hiya ako. Kung anuman ‘yung mga nasabi ko dati, sana, balang araw, mapatawad mo ako.”

She acknowledged her mistakes and admitted that her youth and poor decisions contributed to the situation.

“Sorry, kasi nagkamali ako. Dala ng kabataan, dala ng mga maling nagawa ko noon, pati ikaw, nagulo ‘yung buhay mo. Humihingi ako ng dispensa. Sana mapatawad mo ako balang araw.”

Katherine Luna was once a rising star, gaining multiple Best Actress awards for her performance in the film ‘Babae sa Breakwater.’ However, after the paternity controversy, she stepped away from the limelight.

Meanwhile, Coco Martin has not yet issued any statement regarding Katherine’s recent apology.
