Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado has been officially named GMA Network’s ‘Romcom Queen’, a title bestowed upon her during her recent contract renewal with the network earlier this month.
Jennylyn, known for her hit romantic-comedy films, expressed her gratitude and excitement for the recognition.
“Hindi naman lahat ay nabibigyan ng chance na magkaroon ng title na ganoon. Masaya ako na ganoon ang tingin nila,” Jennylyn shared during a press interview at Beautéderm’s Chinese New Year celebration held at their headquarters in Angeles, Pampanga.
The event gathered several celebrity endorsers of the brand, including Sam Milby and Beautéderm CEO and founder Rhea Anicoche-Tan.
Jennylyn, who previously starred in blockbuster romcoms that earned her acting accolades, is set to return to the genre in the upcoming film ‘Everything About My Wife.’ The movie, an adaptation of an Argentinian film, pairs her with her real-life husband Dennis Trillo.
“‘Yung role ko rito ay typical na misis. Nagsimula sa ligawan at naging mag-asawa. Pinakita kung anong nangyayari sa isang mag-asawa,” Jennylyn said, describing her character’s journey in the film.
Sam Milby, who also stars in the movie, received praise from Jennylyn for his professionalism and pleasant demeanor on set.
Jennylyn’s appearance at Beautéderm’s Chinese New Year celebration wasn’t just about festivities. She participated in a meet-and-greet with fans and attended the launch of Beautéderm’s latest business venture: a luxury bag collection named after Rhea Anicoche-Tan’s daughter, Audrey. The collection features high-quality bags crafted overseas but priced affordably for Filipino consumers.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see Jennylyn in her latest romcom project. ‘Everything About My Wife’ will premiere in theaters nationwide on February 26.
