The Kapamilya series is the first local drama to cross 1 million concurrent viewers, on YouTube.
FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’s unquestionable might in the TV ratings game, has long been established since its February 2023, debut. Having faced and outlasted six rival Kapuso shows, already, the Coco Martin-starrer shows no sign of running out of fuel anytime soon. And now, that it is dealing with Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan, and three years into ruling local television, Batang Quiapo keeps on winning and intends to keep doing so, in many episodes to come.
This week alone, the series hit an 18.2 people rating, based on Nielsen Philippines overnight data, for Wednesday, February 19. That’s more than 10-points higher than its timeslot rival, Lolong, which generated a meager 6.9 people rating. Enough said, Coco Martin remains an unrivaled force not just in primetime but more remarkably in the whole of local television.
But TV ratings game, isn’t the only territory Martin reigns over. FPJ’s Batang Quiapo‘s victory is even more impressive online, where it has already made several record-breaking feats. In the concurrent viewership game, Coco Martin is king, and he maintains a gawking advantage over his closest competitor.
This week, the series maintained a combined live concurrent viewership above 800,000 from Monday, February 17, to Friday, February 20. Its Thursday (February 22) episode, however, makes a total knockout, having surged past 1 million concurrent viewers, on YouTube, alone. On Facebook, more than 40,000 viewers glued on their mobile gadgets and smart TV sets, proving the enormous following the series maintains across various streaming and social media platforms.
These record-breaking feats coincide some major, if not the biggest, turns in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo. After Tanggol (Coco Martin) discovered that his brother, David (McCoy de Leon) stole his identity and pretended to be him to the Montenegro family, he soon found out that his real father is in fact, Ramon Montenegro, played by Christopher de Leon.
Combined with explosive action scenes, these significant development in Batang Quiapo‘s two-year old storyline, is a potent factor to draw more viewers, both on television and online.
