From on-screen rivals to off-screen best friends—Dimples Romana and Iza Calzado formed a special bond while working on the horror film ‘The Caretakers,’ with Dimples even placing Iza in the same league as her closest friends, Angel Locsin and Bea Alonzo.
During a recent media conference and premiere night, Dimples expressed admiration for her co-star, saying: “Iza is on the same level as Angel and Bea for me. We formed such a strong bond while working on this film.”
Despite playing characters at odds with each other in the movie, the two actresses enjoyed deep conversations and shared parenting advice behind the scenes.
Iza also praised Dimples for her dedication to her family and craft, saying: “We’re both mothers, and we often talk about how we balance work and parenting. It’s inspiring to see how she handles it all.”
In ‘The Caretakers,’ Dimples and Iza portray two mothers who will do whatever it takes to protect their children while facing dark supernatural forces tied to an ancestral home.
Describing her role, Dimples shared: “My character has three children, and as a mother myself, I could relate. It made me reflect—can a mother ever be wrong for loving her kids too much?”
Meanwhile, Iza plays a single mother of two children, one of whom is rebellious while the other is gravely ill.
“She is a mother trying to secure a better future for her kids. At the same time, she is forced to return to an old family home, but something sinister is preventing her from claiming it,” Iza revealed.
While the film delivers thrills and supernatural horror, the actresses emphasized that its core theme is family and survival.
At the film’s premiere night and press conference, both Dimples and Iza wore red, which they believe brings luck on Mondays and wards off negative energy.
The event, held at SM The Block Cinema 3, was attended by Regal Entertainment and Rein Entertainment executives, members of the media, and industry personalities.
Expressing their gratitude, Dimples and Iza urged audiences to support Filipino-made films.
“Salamat po sa pagdalo at sana po tulungan ninyo kami na ipakalat na showing na ang ‘The Caretakers’ this February 26,” Dimples said.
Iza also made a heartfelt appeal to moviegoers: “Filipinos need to watch Filipino films to keep our industry and culture alive. We hope you support ‘The Caretakers’ in theaters.”
Rated R-13 by the MTRCB, ‘The Caretakers’ is suitable for audiences aged 13 and above.
