Real-life couple Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado are set to reunite in the upcoming romantic-comedy film ‘Everything About My Wife,’ marking their first big-screen project together since ‘Rosario’ (2010) when they were still just dating.
During the press conference last Thursday, the two actors reflected on how their working relationship has evolved over the years, now that they are married.
Dennis shared that both he and Jennylyn have grown personally and professionally, making it easier for them to work together.
“Ngayon, napansin ko na hindi na kami masyadong nag-aaway. Mas nakokontrol namin ang emotions namin dahil mas matured na at professional kami. Mayroon na kaming respeto sa mga trabaho ng isa’t isa,” he said.
Jennylyn also highlighted the importance of open communication, saying that discussing their scenes beforehand has strengthened their working dynamic.
Dennis admitted that in the past, he hesitated to share creative inputs, but now he feels more confident making suggestions.
“Ngayon kasi, mas nakakapag-usap na kami, mas nakakapag-suggest na kami. Kumpara dati, ‘pag ginawa ko ‘yun, baka sabihin, ‘sobrang nagmamarunong ‘to, ‘kala mo naman kung sinong magaling ‘to.’ Pero ngayon, siyempre, mag-asawa na kami, mas naiintindihan na niya,” he said, making Jennylyn laugh.
Sam Milby also stars in the film, reuniting with Jennylyn after their 2015 movie ‘The PreNup.’ This project also marks his first time working with Dennis.
“For the first time na magkasama kami ni Mr. Dennis Trillo, such a pleasure also. I relate to him kasi I feel like we’re the same—medyo may pagka-quiet na introvert but super-bait ni Dennis. It was such a pleasure working with the two of them,” Sam shared.
Interestingly, Sam revealed that the real-life relationship of Dennis and Jennylyn played a role in his decision to accept the film.
‘Everything About My Wife’ is the Filipino adaptation of the 2008 Argentine film ‘Un Novio Para Mi Mujer’ (A Boyfriend for My Wife). The story has been remade in several countries, including South Korea, Mexico, Chile, Italy, India, and Spain.
The local adaptation is directed by Real Florido and promises to bring a fresh take on the romantic-comedy genre while staying true to the story’s universal themes.
Fans of Dennis and Jennylyn, also known as the JenDen tandem, have been eagerly waiting for this reunion. Their undeniable chemistry, combined with a strong cast and a well-loved storyline, makes ‘Everything About My Wife’ a highly anticipated release.
The film is set to premiere in Philippine cinemas on February 26, 2025.
