GMA Network’s newest afternoon prime drama, ‘Binibining Marikit,’ premiered last week, and its performance in TV ratings showed a promising start.
According to the latest Nielsen NUTAM People survey, the series debuted with competitive ratings, closely trailing other Kapuso afternoon dramas.
On Monday, February 10, ‘Binibining Marikit’ premiered with a 6.2 percent rating, placing 10th on the overall ratings chart. Among GMA afternoon dramas, it ranked second, with ‘Prinsesa Ng City Jail (PNCJ)’ and ‘Forever Young’ leading at 6.5 percent.
On its second day, Tuesday, February 11, the drama held its number 10 position but saw a slight dip to 6.0 percent. Meanwhile, PNCJ and ‘Forever Young’ maintained their 6.5 percent ratings.
By Wednesday, February 12, ‘Binibining Marikit’ remained steady, retaining its 6.0 percent rating and 10th-place ranking.
On Thursday, February 13, the show saw a slight improvement, rising to a 6.1 percent rating while holding onto its 10th position.
At the end of its first week, ‘Binibining Marikit’ slipped back to 6.0 percent but climbed to number 8 on the overall ratings chart, tying with It’s Showtime.
Starring Herlene Budol, ‘Binibining Marikit’ follows the story of Marikit, also known as Ikit, a hardworking and cheerful Dumagat tour guide raised solely by her father, Gani, after being abandoned by her mother, Mayumi. Ikit grows up believing her mother left them in pursuit of ambition.
The series also features Pokwang as Mayumi, alongside Kevin Dasom, Tony Labrusca, Thea Tolentino, Cris Villanueva, Almira Muhlach, Ashley Rivera, John Feir, Jeff Moses, and Migs Almendras.
‘Binibining Marikit’ airs weekdays at 4:05 p.m. on GMA Network.
