Despite her rapidly growing fame, Ashtine Olviga proves that success has not changed her grounded nature.
The lead actress of Viva One’s hit series ‘Ang Mutya ng Section E’ has surprised fans with her practical choice of commuting via the MRT, emphasizing that it’s for convenience rather than saving money.
In a recent conversation, Ashtine explained that she prefers taking the MRT over private transportation because it helps her avoid heavy traffic in Metro Manila.
“Mas mabilis kasi akong nakakarating sa pupuntahan ko kapag MRT ang sinasakyan ko,” she shared.
While some might assume that she chooses public transport to cut costs, the actress clarified that this is not the case.
“It’s not about being kuripot (stingy) or trying to save money. I just find it more efficient,” she added.
She also revealed that she typically wears a mask while commuting to stay low-key. However, there have been instances where fans recognized her and later posted on social media, asking if it was indeed her whom they had seen on the train.
To avoid large crowds, Ashtine makes sure to ride the MRT outside of rush hours.
Ashtine has quickly become a rising star, thanks to the overwhelming success of ‘Ang Mutya ng Section E’, where she plays the lead role of Jayjay opposite Andres Muhlach. Their on-screen pairing, known as AshDres, has sparked a strong fan base, driving the show’s immense popularity.
The Wattpad-based series has also gained international traction, with fans from Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, and the Middle East sharing their excitement about the show online.
Before entering the world of acting, Ashtine had a background in music, a career path reminiscent of Viva Entertainment’s successful formula in producing multi-talented artists like Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez, and Sarah Geronimo.
Despite her newfound stardom, Ashtine remains thankful and grounded.
“Matagal ko nang hinihintay ang pagkakataon na sumikat, pero walang dahilan para iparamdam ko ito sa iba. Masaya lang ako na maraming sumusuporta sa akin at sa series namin,” she said.
Her humility and practical lifestyle choices have only endeared her more to fans, proving that rising to stardom doesn’t have to mean leaving behind everyday habits.
