Ashtine Olviga is on her way to becoming a celebrated young actress with the breakout success of the
Wattpad series and Viva One adaptation of Ang Mutya ng Section E, where she plays lead female
character “Jayjay”, alongside the show’s male lead, Showbiz Royalty Andres Muhlach.
Ang Mutya ng Section E is enjoying a rapidly increasing viewership due to the undeniable chemistry of
the AshDres (Ashtine and Andres) loveteam as well as a very supportive fanbase that has catapulted not
just the series but majority of its cast to widespread celebrity status: from dominating Tiktok feeds, social
media trending topics and hashtags, in-demand fan activities centered around the cast members, and even
garnering fans at a global scale; with fans from Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, and the Middle
East all getting hooked to the series and posting on social media about it.
The leading female force behind the show is young actress Ashtine who actually has a storied background
in music before venturing into acting, a widely known star building equation that Viva’s Boss Vic has a
proven track record on: transforming talented singers into highly bankable actresses with the likes of
Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasquez, and Sarah Geronimo.REACHING THE HIGH NOTES
Ashtine started her showbiz journey in Viva’s talent search and singing competition Born to Be a Star in
2016. While she did not win in the said search, it has opened a lot of possibilities for the young singer,
which eventually led her to the then-rising P-Pop boom.
Her P-Pop journey saw her as a member of various groups such as UGG (U Go Girls) in 2017, PPop
Generation (Team A) in 2019, and her last group LITZ in 2022. But it seems like Ashtine is destined for a
solo career, as although she has enjoyed musical notability in her groups, her potential in being an actress
also looked quite promising.A STRING OF MOVIES
Ashtine’s acting journey actually started with a Sarah Geronimo movie, Miss Granny (2018), which
seems like a nod to the route that the young actress will eventually take. It has been followed by several
movies where she played supporting roles to Julia Barretto’s Will You Be My Ex (2023) and MarVen
(Marco Gallo and Heaven Peralejo)’s The Ship Show (2023).
She then starred in ensemble cast movies such as horror movie Marita (2023), led by Louise Delos Reyes
and Rhen Escaño, as well as playing the young version of Gelli De Belen in her successful reunion movie
together with Janice De Belen, Carmina Villaroel, and Candy Pangilinan, Roadtrip (2024). She played
another young version of Sunshine Dizon’s character in the Philippine adaptation of the hit Korean movie,
Sunny (2024), together with Vina Morales, Angelu De Leon, Heaven Peralejo, and Bea Binene.
THE JEWEL IN THE CLASSROOM
But it was really in her casting as the lead female role of Ang Mutya ng Section E, where she was
handpicked by Boss Vic for the role, that Ashtine has proven that she has what it takes to be the next big
star of this generation. The series which will run for a total of three seasons, will only solidify Ashtine’s
celebrity status.
Ashtine is of course very thankful to all the fans and beyond grateful for the opportunity she has been
presented with. Her social media followership has experienced overwhelming growth, having doubled her
followers across almost all social media platforms: Facebook with 1.1M followers, Instagram with 1M
followers, and Tiktok with a staggering 4.2M followers.
With fans making Ang Mutya ng Section E trend every episode release, there is still a lot more to expect
from Ashtine and her blossoming from a talented singer to a promising young actress and a multimedia
and pop culture phenomenon.
