Veteran TV and movie icon Vic Sotto has revealed that he remains free from maintenance medications at the age of 70, attributing his good health to a balanced lifestyle and unwavering faith in God.
During a press conference held at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City on January 14 for his newest endorsement, Santé Barley, Sotto expressed his gratitude for his strong physical condition despite being a senior citizen.
“Wala akong maintenance. I’m always thankful sa Panginoon dahil malinis ang pakiramdam ko. Siya naman ang direktor at producer ng lahat. I lift everything to Him,” he shared.
Sotto disclosed that while he takes vitamins and natural supplements, he has never needed prescription medications for conditions such as hypertension or diabetes. He humorously noted that some of his ‘Eat Bulaga!’ co-hosts, such as Joey de Leon and Allan K, already rely on maintenance medicines.
Sotto maintains his fitness through regular exercise, including biking and walking around his neighborhood. He also practices healthy eating habits and avoids missing meals. However, he admitted that his wife Pauleen Luna’s fitness regimen is more intense than his.
“Hindi ko kaya sabayan si Poleng sa workouts niya. Tama na sa akin ‘yung paglalakad at pagbabantay sa pagkain,” Sotto said with a smile.
Sotto was officially introduced as the newest brand ambassador of Santé, a global provider of organic health and wellness products. The company’s flagship product, Santé Barley, is made from organic barley sourced from New Zealand and is known for its nutrient-rich formula.
“Honored ako to join the Santé family sa kanilang misyon na i-empower ang mga Pinoy na mamuhay nang mas maayos. Good health is a gift, and we all have the power to nurture it with the right choices,” Sotto said.
Santé CEO Joey Marcelo praised Sotto’s authentic connection with audiences and his commitment to wellness. “Vic’s ability to connect with people and his genuine approach to health make him the perfect ambassador for our brand,” Marcel added.
With a career spanning over five decades, Sotto remains a beloved figure in the entertainment industry. He is best known as one of the original hosts of the long-running noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga!’ alongside his brother Tito Sotto and Joey de Leon.
Sotto also starred in iconic fantasy-comedy films such as ‘Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote’ (2010), ‘Enteng ng Ina Mo’ (2011), and ‘Si Agimat, si Enteng Kabisote at si Ako’ (2012).
In 2024, Sotto took on his first dramatic role in ‘The Kingdom’, a historical film that explores an alternate version of Philippine history. The project marked a departure from his comedic roles and showcased his versatility as an actor.
Sotto also took time to thank his family, friends, and fans for their unwavering support throughout his career.
“Maraming salamat sa lahat ng sumusuporta—sa press, mga kaibigan, at pamilya. Ramdam ko ang suporta nila, and I’m very grateful,” he said.
