Seasoned actor and TV icon Vic Sotto remains a staple in the entertainment industry, showing no signs of slowing down despite decades in the limelight.
In a recent press conference for his latest endorsement with Santé Barley held at Luxent Hotel, Quezon City, the ‘Eat Bulaga!’ mainstay shared insights into his remarkable staying power in showbiz.
“Wala namang sikreto. I’m always thankful sa kapalaran. Lahat ng narating ko, I always lift everything to God… Siya ang direktor, Siya ang producer,” Vic explained when asked about his enduring success.
The actor also reflected on his unexpected role in the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry ‘The Kingdom’, a historical drama about an alternate reality for the Philippines.
“Sino ang mag-aakala na biglang meron akong offer to do a very serious role… I do my best, I give my 100 percent,” he added.
Vic described himself as reserved and more of a listener, especially around friends and co-hosts like Tito Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Allan K.
“Kahit noong bata pa ako, tahimik lang ako. I only talk when it’s time to talk. Shy type lang talaga ako,” he shared, likening his off-cam personality to his idol, the late King of Comedy Dolphy.
Vic emphasized the importance of humility amid challenges. “Humility is the best policy,” he quipped. “Malinis ang pakiramdam ko… ang problema, daanan mo lang nang daanan.”
Vic expressed his deep gratitude to those who continue to support him—family, friends, colleagues, and the entertainment press. He also thanked Santé Barley for choosing him as their ambassador, aligning with his advocacy for a healthy lifestyle.
“Honored ako to join Santé Barley sa kanilang misyon na i-empower ang mga Pinoy na mamuhay ng mas maayos. Malaki ang tiwala ko sa kanila,” Vic said.
Vic Sotto’s prolific career spans over four decades, from his early days as a host of ‘Eat Bulaga!’ to starring in hit fantasy-comedy franchises like Enteng Kabisote. His recent performance in ‘The Kingdom’ marked his first foray into serious drama, which was well-received by critics and fans alike.
As he gears up for more projects, Vic remains steadfast in his commitment to Filipino cinema. “Mahalaga na alagaan natin ang pelikulang Pilipino… Kung maitataas natin ang antas, tayo rin ang makikinabang,” he concluded.
