Veteran TV host-actor Vic Sotto remains unfazed by the controversy linking his name to the late 1980s actress Pepsi Paloma, asserting that his conscience is clean.
During the media launch of his latest endorsement held at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City on Tuesday, Sotto addressed the issue in an interview with reporters.
“I’m good, I’m relaxed, just going with the flow. Basta ako naman, I trust in God,” Sotto shared.
He added, “I have a clean conscience. Wala namang dapat ika-worry. Mai-stress ka lang kung iisipin mo. So, relax lang.”
The controversy centers around Sotto’s name being mentioned in the teaser of Darryl Yap’s upcoming film ‘The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma’. Sotto filed a cyber libel complaint on January 9 at the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court, accompanied by his wife, Pauleen Luna.
The complaint includes 19 counts of cyber libel against Yap and a civil claim for damages amounting to at least PHP 35 million.
The teaser trailer of Yap’s film sparked backlash as it allegedly implied Sotto’s involvement in the narrative, prompting the legal action.
Despite the ongoing case, Sotto remains optimistic and expressed gratitude for the support he has received.
“I’m grateful for everyone who continues to support me,” he said.
The case has reignited public discussions about Pepsi Paloma’s tragic story and the controversies surrounding it. However, Sotto emphasized his trust in the legal process and his faith as he faces the accusations head-on.
As the legal proceedings progress, the entertainment industry and the public closely watch how this high-profile case will unfold.
