Television host Robi Domingo shared exciting updates about his wife, Maiqui Pineda, and their plans for the future during the media conference for his new ABS-CBN show, ‘Time to Dance’.
Robi revealed that Maiqui has made significant progress in her recovery from dermatomyositis, a rare autoimmune disease, and that they are ready to take the next step in their relationship: starting a family.
Robi expressed his joy over Maiqui’s recovery, noting how far they’ve come since her diagnosis in 2023, just as they were preparing for their wedding. The couple tied the knot in 2024, focusing on Maiqui’s treatment soon after.
“Maiqui is okay now, she’s well, and I’m so happy,” Robi shared during the press conference.
Last December, Maiqui revealed she had entered clinical remission, a state where symptoms of the disease are minimal or nonexistent.
Robi recounted their early days as newlyweds, which were spent not on the usual honeymoon trips but at hospitals.
“The first few months of marriage, akala ko, people would say, ‘Enjoy n’yo ‘yan, trips kayo palagi.’ Pero ‘yung trips namin, sa hospital. Especially during the first month of her recovery,” he said.
Despite the challenges, Robi remains optimistic. “Ang dami kong natutunan sa sarili ko, sa kanya, at sa aming dalawa,” he said.
Now that Maiqui is nearing the end of her treatment, Robi excitedly revealed their plans to start a family.
“She’s on her last dosage of treatment, and after that, we can try to have a baby,” he said.
The couple also recently enjoyed a vacation in Japan, which Robi described as their delayed honeymoon.
With Maiqui’s health improving, Robi is diving headfirst into his hosting duties for ‘Time to Dance’, a dance survival reality show produced by ABS-CBN and Nathan Studios.
Robi praised his co-host, Gela Atayde, for her dedication and growth as a first-time host. “Kitang-kita kay Gela ’yung gigil talaga na pag-ibayuhin pa ‘yung kanyang craft. Ang laki ng improvement niya since day one,” Robi said.
The show, which premiered on January 18, features 17 dance hopefuls competing in intense training sessions and electrifying one-on-one dance battles under the guidance of top dance coaches from the Philippines.
‘Time to Dance’ airs every Saturday at 8:30 p.m. on A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, MYX, iWantTFC, and TFC.
