Mikee Reyes has officially stepped down as sports news presenter for TV5’s ‘Frontline Pilipinas’.
The announcement, made through his Facebook post on January 4, surprised many of his followers.
“I RESIGNED FROM FRONTLINE. Thank you for the coolest year and a half, News5!” Reyes wrote in his post, closing it with his signature sign-off: “At yan ang mga pandiinang sports news today, it’s your Sports Tito Mikee Reyes. Peace and love!”
Reyes had been a key part of the news team alongside anchors Cheryl Cosim, Julius Babao, and Jiggy Manicad, with Jervi Wrightson, also known as KaladKaren Davila, covering entertainment news.
The news of his departure quickly stirred reactions from netizens.
In the latest episode of his podcast Tito Thoughts, titled “RESIGNED,” Reyes detailed his reasons for leaving the program.
He admitted that although he gained valuable experience and met inspiring people during his time on Frontline Pilipinas, his decision to step down was difficult. However, he shared that his priority is to focus more on content creation, which provides him with a more flexible schedule.
“The time I spend from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at TV5 could now be used for producing content,” Reyes explained in the episode.
For Reyes, content creation plays a crucial role in broadening his audience reach and securing partnerships with brands, which can open doors for endorsements, hosting events, and other career opportunities.
Despite his departure from the show, netizens remain supportive of his career move:
“Time is a priceless commodity. Looking forward to more of your content, Tito Mikee!”
