The reported tension between Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino regarding the postponement of their upcoming romantic comedy ‘My Love Will Make You Disappear’ appears to have been resolved after a meeting with Star Cinema executives.
Speculations of a fallout surfaced when Star Cinema announced that the movie’s premiere would be moved from February 12 to March 26. Fans were quick to link Paulo’s cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter)—”Ma-experience nga na hindi tumapos ng pelikula”—to his alleged frustration over the change.
However, during the film’s Monday shoot, Star Cinema representatives visited the set to speak with Kim and Paulo. Both actors later shared positive updates on their Instagram Stories, dispelling the rumors.
Kim posted a photo with the caption, “@starcinema fam in the haws! Good morning,” alongside a yellow heart emoji. She also shared a group photo with Star Cinema executives, writing, “See you in cinemas on March 26… Di na kami mag-DISAPPEAR!”
Paulo, for his part, reposted Kim’s story on his Instagram, signaling that everything was back on track.
Star Cinema released a statement on January 11, 2025, to explain the rescheduling.
“As part of Star Cinema’s commitment to bringing Philippine films to a global audience, we are excited to announce the new playdate for the much-anticipated romantic comedy My Love Will Make You Disappear, starring Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino. The film will now appear in cinemas worldwide starting March 26,” the statement read.
The production company emphasized that the adjustment was part of a strategy to expand its international reach, particularly in North America.
“We are happy to share that global theatrical distributor Abramorama and award-winning international entertainment marketing firm Amorette Jones Media Consulting are collaborating with Star Cinema to bring this beautiful story to an even broader audience, believing in its universal appeal,” the statement added.
Following the resolution, Kim and Paulo are expected to go all-out with TV guestings and mall shows to promote their first major film project together. Fans eagerly await their on-screen chemistry, which first captured audiences in ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim’ and ‘Linlang.’
