Kapuso stars Jillian Ward and Michael Sager are set to deliver a new wave of romance on primetime TV with their upcoming regional romantic-comedy series, ‘My Ilonggo Girl’.
This project marks Jillian’s highly anticipated return to primetime after the phenomenal success of her two-year afternoon drama ‘Abot Kamay na Pangarap’. It also serves as her first series under GMA Public Affairs.
The show presents a unique challenge for Jillian as she takes on dual roles—Tata, a humble Ilongga from the province, and Venice, a glamorous and sophisticated actress.
Michael Sager, meanwhile, plays Francis, a young, successful entrepreneur whose love for his family drives his every decision.
“I feel so blessed and happy kasi 15 years na ako sa industry pero grabe pa rin ‘yung tiwala sa akin ng GMA, and first time kong magkakaroon ng teleserye with GMA Public Affairs,” Jillian shared during the media launch. “Nae-excite ako kasi ibang-iba siya sa mga nagawa ko na at marami akong natutunan na bago.”
She added, “First time kong magkontrabida talaga tapos dalawa pa ‘yung characters ko. First time ko ring magka-character na galing province kasi mostly ang mga character ko taga-Maynila. Ibang Jillian ang makikita nila dahil mayroong dalawang Jillian sa show na magkaibang-magkaiba. Ang role ko rin po rito, something fresh and light, pampagaan ng gabi bago matulog ang mga tao.”

The show’s trailer, which premiered during the media conference, showcased a romantic comedy with a distinctly K-drama-inspired aesthetic infused with Filipino charm.
During the event, Jillian and Michael displayed an undeniable chemistry as they exchanged smiles and whispered to each other while watching the preview.
Joining the main leads in ‘My Ilonggo Girl’ are veteran and rising stars, including Teresa Loyzaga, Arra San Agustin, Lianne Valentin, Empoy Marquez, Andrea del Rosario, and Arlene Muhlach.
Directed by Rado Peru, the series will air starting January 13 from Monday to Thursday at 9:35 p.m. on GMA Network, with episodes also available on GMA Pinoy TV for international audiences.
