Veteran actress Jean Garcia has addressed rumors of a feud with her ‘Widows’ War’ co-star Bea Alonzo, emphasizing their close bond on and off the set.
Speculations arose after Bea’s 2024 year-end recap video, which showcased her travels, endorsements, and moments with friends, but notably excluded clips with her Kapuso co-stars. This led netizens to question her relationships with her fellow cast members.
During the media conference for ‘Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan’ on January 13 at Gateway 2 in Quezon City, Jean was asked about her dynamic with Bea during their time together on Widows’ War.
“Super close kami ni Bea. Nagkasama na kami sa mga serye sa ABS-CBN. Close talaga kami ni Lola Bea. I love her so much!” Jean said.
Jean assured the media that their time on set was filled with camaraderie.
“Lahat sila mahal ko. Walang naging pasaway sa taping namin. Ako naman, sasabihin ko kung meron, di ba? Pero wala talaga—lahat maayos, and we all became very close, eating together and sharing moments,” she added.
When asked to clarify the rumors of conflict, Jean was quick to dismiss the speculations: “May lumalabas ba? Kami ni Bea? Talaga? It’s not true! Naku, huwag silang gumawa ng fake news. We love each other.”
With ‘Widows’ War’ nearing its conclusion, Jean has already moved on to her next big project, ‘Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan’. Despite her busy schedule, Jean expressed her gratitude for the continuous stream of work.
“Very thankful ako na sunod-sunod ang trabaho ko. Nag-overlap pa nga sila, pero nakaya naman,” she said.
Jean also teased her upcoming storyline in Lolong. Her character, who was imprisoned in the first season, will have a significant arc in the sequel.
“Abangan nila kung sa paglabas ko ng kulungan, magiging kakampi ba ako o kalaban ni Lolong,” she hinted.
Jean also commended Ruru Madrid, who plays the titular role in Lolong and recently won Best Supporting Actor at the Metro Manila Film Festival for his performance in ‘Green Bones’.
“Si Ruru, I’m very proud of him. I was in the States when he won. I watched his speech, and it was very sincere. Isa siya sa pinakamagandang speech noong gabing ‘yon—walang kaplastikan, lahat galing sa puso.”
She highlighted Ruru’s remarkable growth as an actor: “Ang laki ng pinagbago niya, at doble o super sipag talaga niya.”
The GMA Prime series ‘Widows’ War’ is now on its final week after an impressive six-month run. As fans bid farewell to the show, anticipation grows for Jean Garcia’s next performance in ‘Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan’.
