The family of legendary actress Gloria Romero, who passed away on January 25, 2025, has issued a strong statement condemning the spread of a false last will and testament circulating on social media.
In an interview with TV5 entertainment reporter MJ Marfori during the cremation ceremony at Arlington Memorial Chapels & Crematory on January 29, Romero’s daughter, Maritess Gutierrez, described the rumors as “baseless and disrespectful.” She urged the public not to believe or share the fabricated information.
The viral post, initially shared by a Facebook page named Pinoy History, falsely claimed details about Romero’s estate, including the value of her mansion, bank accounts, and plans to build a school in Pangasinan. The post also alleged how her assets would be divided between her daughter and grandson, Chris Gutierrez.
Despite the sensitive nature of the situation, the post gained traction on social media, with notable personalities, including DJ TonyToni, unknowingly sharing it with their followers.

In response to the misinformation, the Romero family is considering filing legal action to prevent further dissemination of false claims.
“It’s heartbreaking that people are spreading false information while we are mourning,” said Maritess. “We ask for respect and understanding during this difficult time.”
The family stressed that they had not released any official statements regarding Romero’s will and warned the public to be cautious about believing unverified reports.
Fans and supporters of Gloria Romero have expressed outrage over the fake news, rallying behind the family and demanding accountability for those spreading false information. Many have called for more responsible social media behavior, particularly when discussing sensitive topics related to death and mourning.
