Actor Gerald Anderson revealed his personal fears and motivations in a heartfelt interview with a digital magazine, sharing insights into his career, family, and relationships.
Known for his dedication to his craft, Gerald admitted that concerns about his career and the well-being of his loved ones drive him to work harder.
Gerald expressed his gratitude for the values instilled by his parents, which have shaped his disciplined approach to work and financial management. These lessons helped him establish a safety net through various business ventures. With his parents now in their senior years, the actor is determined to spend quality time with them.
“I do all this work for them. They are a big motivation in my life, in my career,” he said. “Sa awa ng Diyos, God has been very good; He’s kept them healthy.”
The pandemic reinforced Gerald’s appreciation for family time, as he realized the importance of prioritizing loved ones amid life’s uncertainties.
As a prominent actor, Gerald also opened up about his fear of losing relevance in the ever-changing entertainment industry, where competition is fierce, and new talents continually emerge.
“In our industry, we are very fragile as celebrities. Our career could be taken away in an instant if hindi mo aalagaan,” Gerald admitted. “My fear of losing my career is real because this is what feeds my family and loved ones.”
To stay grounded, Gerald reflects on his humble beginnings. “People will judge you, bash you, support you, and love you—and all of that can change in a second. Always remember who you are and do not let fame get into your head—because it’s not real.”
When discussing love, Gerald admitted that he has faced heartbreak and challenges but remains optimistic about its beauty. “Love can also hurt, and it does hurt when it doesn’t work out. With dreams and goals planned together, it really does hurt when things don’t work out.”
Despite past experiences, Gerald remains a firm believer in love. “I always believed in love. There are times in my life na parang ‘wag muna ‘yung love,’ but then God works in mysterious ways. He blessed me with beautiful relationships.”
Gerald spoke highly of his current partner, Julia Barretto, describing her as his source of inspiration. “She’s very genuine, humble, and beautiful—inside and out. I’m so blessed to be part of her life.”
Since his breakthrough on ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition’ in 2005, Gerald has enjoyed a successful career under ABS-CBN and Star Magic. His impressive acting portfolio includes hit teleseryes and films, solidifying his status as one of the most bankable stars of his generation.
