Drag star Eva Le Queen has called out Singaporean comedian Kumar for allegedly making racist remarks against Filipinos, urging fans to boycott his upcoming Manila show.
In a social media post, Eva expressed outrage upon seeing an advertisement for Kumar’s Manila performance, recalling a past incident where the comedian reportedly made offensive comments during a competition.
“During my competing days, that btch said this on the mic: ‘You Pinoys should go back to your country,’” Eva shared. “It wasn’t stand-up comedy; it was just a spiteful racist remark.”
Eva also recounted another instance where Kumar allegedly made derogatory remarks while a Filipino drag queen was performing, describing it as “sickening.”
The drag queen, known for advocating inclusivity and diversity, voiced her dismay over Kumar’s scheduled Manila show. “It makes me sick that that person—who blatantly hates Filipinos—is coming to Manila for a show. Now that is the real comedy. Please, don’t buy that sht show of Kumar,”* she wrote.
Eva’s post quickly gained attention on social media, with fans and fellow entertainers expressing support for her stance. Many applauded her for speaking out against alleged racism, while others called for a deeper discussion about accountability in the entertainment industry.
“We need to draw the line between comedy and outright discrimination,” one netizen commented. Another added, “Proud of you for using your platform to address this issue.”
However, some users expressed caution, urging for clarity and an official response from Kumar before passing judgment.
Kumar is a celebrated figure in the international comedy scene, known for his sharp, often controversial humor that tackles everyday life, social issues, and cultural idiosyncrasies. He has performed in major cities such as London, Sydney, Jakarta, and Bangkok, often drawing large crowds.
In 2023, Kumar held a successful show in the Philippines and is set to return in February 2025 for his ‘Beats, Rhymes & Punchlines’ tour at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre.
As of this writing, Kumar has not issued a statement addressing the allegations made by Eva Le Queen. His Manila show remains on schedule, though the controversy has sparked debate about the boundaries of comedy and respect for cultural sensitivities.
