Vice Ganda addressed and dismissed rumors that the noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’ owes money to GMA Network during its live broadcast on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
The clarification came just days after GMA Network Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes denied the same allegations.
During the episode, Vice, alongside co-hosts Kim Chiu and Vhong Navarro, humorously commented on the sparkling condition of the show’s ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ stage.
“Paano ba namang hindi kukutitap, ang kintab ng stage na ‘to, parang natapunan ng syrup ng hotcake,” Vice joked, with Kim agreeing, “Makinang.”
Vhong added, “Budgeted na tayo dito, umaasenso na tayo,” to which Vice responded, “Let’s claim it na umaasenso tayo.”
Vice then directly addressed the rumors: “At hindi totoong may utang ang It’s Showtime sa GMA,” Vice clarified, with Kim echoing, “Oo nga, sino ba kasi nagpakalat nun?”
In a show of gratitude, Vice gave a shoutout to Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, praising her and teasing about a potential holiday gift.
“Bongga talaga to si Miss Annette! I love you, Miss Annette. Huwag kayong mag-alala, may pamasko si Miss Annette,” Vice said, earning a playful “thank you” from Kim.
On December 15, Atty. Annette confirmed that the renewal of ‘It’s Showtime’s’ timeslot on GMA Network is progressing smoothly, with discussions nearing completion.
“Mga 95 percent, sure na ‘yan. Wala namang problema, konting pag-uusap na lang,” she shared, noting ongoing discussions with ABS-CBN President Carlo Katigbak.
Addressing the show’s ratings, Atty. Annette expressed her satisfaction, saying, “Sa ratings, walang problema. Ang taas-taas ng ratings ng Showtime.”
Atty. Annette also reiterated that there is no truth to claims of financial obligations between ‘It’s Showtime’ and GMA Network.
“Wala silang utang, wala,” she firmly stated, dispelling the rumors as baseless.
