Actress-comedian Rufa Mae Quinto has addressed the allegations linking her to a scam involving a skincare company flagged by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Quinto, through a statement released by her legal counsel, firmly denied the accusations and expressed her resolve to defend her reputation and seek justice.
The allegations stem from her association with Derma Care, a company accused of violating the Securities Regulation Code (Republic Act 8799). The same case also implicated actress-businesswoman Neri Naig. Reports claimed Quinto is facing a warrant of arrest in relation to the case, which she vehemently denies.
In her official statement on Dec. 3, Quinto categorically refuted the allegations.
“I HAVE NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER TO ANY FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY AND I CATEGORICALLY DENY THESE BASELESS ACCUSATIONS. IF ANYTHING, I AM ALSO A VICTIM AND I AM DETERMINED TO SEEK JUSTICE,” she said.
Quinto expressed her dismay at being implicated in the controversy, emphasizing the integrity and dedication she has shown throughout her career.
“It is dejecting to see my name being dragged through the mud, but I remain steadfast and confident that the truth will soon prevail,” she added.

The actress assured her full cooperation with authorities and vowed to resolve the matter through proper legal processes. She also acknowledged the support from fans and loved ones during this difficult time.
“I will fight for my name and reputation. Let us allow justice to take its course, and I humbly ask for your patience and understanding as the truth unfolds,” she stated.
Quinto’s lawyer, Atty. Mary Louise Reyes, clarified that the actress is not facing charges of large-scale estafa, a non-bailable offense. The allegations instead involve a potential violation of Section 8 of Republic Act 8799, which requires individuals participating in securities transactions to be duly registered with the SEC.
This regulation is intended to protect investors and maintain transparency in securities dealings by ensuring only authorized individuals engage in such transactions.
Quinto remains optimistic about clearing her name and safeguarding her reputation. Fans and supporters have rallied behind her, offering encouragement as she takes the necessary legal steps to address the situation.
