Vice Ganda’s latest film, ‘And The Breadwinner Is…’ has taken the lead at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) box office, as confirmed by media reports and pre-sale ticket data.
The movie, a crowd favorite even before its release, recorded the highest pre-sales and the widest availability across cinemas nationwide.
Veteran entertainment columnist Ogie Diaz revealed the film’s strong performance on his social media, stating, “According to my source, nangunguna ang movie ni Vice Ganda sa box office. Wala pa daw sa kalahati ng gross nito ang #2 nung opening day nito nung Pasko.”

Reports also noted that cinema attendance surged further on December 26, with more moviegoers flocking to theaters despite the resumption of office work. Diaz attributed this increase to the growing popularity of online ticket pre-sales, which have made ticket purchasing more convenient.
This year’s MMFF lineup offers a wide range of genres, catering to the varied tastes of Filipino audiences. While ‘And The Breadwinner Is…’ shines as a comedic gem, it is lauded for its fresh approach to humor, setting it apart from Vice Ganda’s previous works.
The festival also features entries such as the action-thriller ‘Green Bones’, the faith-inspired drama ‘Isang Himala’, the psychological suspense ‘Uninvited’, and the chilling ‘Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital’.
With the theme ‘Sinesigla sa Singkwenta,’ the MMFF 2024 marks its golden anniversary, celebrating half a century of Filipino filmmaking excellence. Organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the festival runs from December 25, 2024, to January 7, 2025, offering audiences a mix of entertainment and cultural reflection.
