Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary on December 30, 2024, but the celebrity couple is opting for a more low-key celebration, foregoing a renewal of vows.
Instead, they plan to mark the milestone with an intimate gathering of family and friends.
During a thanksgiving event hosted by Filipino telecommunity company DITO, Dantes shared that their focus will be on celebrating their decade-long marriage alongside their two children, Zia and Sixto. He explained that the couple doesn’t feel the need for a renewal of vows, as they still remember the significance of their wedding day.
“Hindi naman namin kailangang mag-renewal of vows kasi naaalala pa naman namin,” Dantes said. “Gusto naming ma-realize nila na dito nag-umpisa ang lahat, 10 years ago.”
Dantes also noted that while their youngest child, Sixto, may not fully understand the concept of marriage yet, they believe the best way to show the importance of their union is through their daily actions. “Pero sabi nga namin sa isa’t isa the greatest way of showing the true importance of marriage is to show it every day,” he explained.
Rivera echoed her husband’s thoughts, emphasizing that the core of their marriage celebration lies in how they treat each other at home. The couple enjoys spending time with their children by watching TV together, taking advantage of uninterrupted internet connections for family bonding.
When Dantes is away filming for his shows like ‘Amazing Earth’ or ‘Family Feud,’ he makes sure to stay connected with his family through video calls. “Siyempre ayaw nating nai-interrupt kapag mga video messages. Gusto ko nakikita ko ang mga anak ko tsaka siyempre si misis, nagre-report,” he shared.
Reflecting on their Christmas traditions, Rivera revealed that her holiday celebrations have changed since childhood. “Iyong Pasko ng kabataan ko, madalas kami lang ng lola ko ang magkasama,” she said. “So mas masaya ngayon.”
Dantes, who grew up with large family gatherings during the holidays, is now continuing that tradition with Rivera and their children. “It’s our turn to make the kids experience that and create our own tradition,” he said.
Both Rivera and Dantes have had successful years, with Rivera making her Cinemalaya debut in the award-winning film ‘Balota’ and securing new endorsements. Dantes, meanwhile, has been able to spend more time with his family this year, following a hectic 2023. For Dantes, being able to prioritize family is the highlight of his 2024. “That is the highlight of this year for me,” he said.
